Stancliffe SS was a British steam freighter built in 1936 by Lithgows, Port Glasgow as the DORNOCH. In 1937 she was acquired by Lambert Brothers and renamed HUNTCLIFFE. In 1940 she was acquired by Stanhope Shipping and renamed STANCLIFFE. On the 12th April 1940 when on route from NARVIK for MIDDLESBROUGH carrying 7,200 tons of iron ore she was torpedoed by German submarine U-37, 45 miles NE of UNST ISLAND, British Isles and sunk. 22 crew lost form a total crew 38.
