My oh My the World is certainly in a bad way, when it comes to the truth. I was reading about the Phony Political vote on a referendum about the Lisbon agreement.Im sure British polititions have reached a new Low. The People of England have been let down Badly as to the Destiny of their country.China is a very close second with its Treatment of the people of Tibet, I sincerely hope the Olympics get wiped off the Agenda in China, though my inner feeling is that Egotistical Sports people will put money before principle.Taxes on Fuel and goods in England will eventually lead to violence by the Poor , im sure of that. It used to be such a serene World when i was at sea. very Best Glenn

I wrote a message three months ago but could not get any help so i am trying again but with a bit more information. My grandad was in the Merchant navy during the second world war on anti submarine and escort duties on a wooden boat ( this might be helpful ), his name is Henry James Brann Mulcahy or as he liked to be called Shammy. He was a fisherman before joining the navy and was from Folkestone with a lovely wife and three sons. If anyone knew him or served with him i would be very grateful for any information no matter how big or small it might be. Can i take this moment to take my hat off to all the men and women who served during the war as i have been researching and you lot had it rough. People do not give you enough respect or gratitude for what you did so on behalf of me my wife and my 4 children thank you.

i see the government in this country has finally taken its first step in introducing a points system for new immagrants.does anyone else exept me think this should be extended to the E.U. community also.we all know the health service in this country would fall apart without its foriegn doctors and consultants.they do a great job and are very much needed.but do we seriously need half of the eastern european block comming in and adding to our strains.they also should be judged as to wether there worth a sunday joint.gordon brown will no way have a referendum on the E.U. because he says without the e u trade it could cost this country three million jobs plus.the problem i have with that is. the three million jobs that may be lost the way things are going could be eastern block workers drafted in on cheap labour in any case.wake up and smell the coffee mr brown.as the last posting says give england back to the {ENGLISH}.regards all {terry scouse}.

yesterday 19/03/08 i went to docklands to visit the above museum, its spread over three floors of an old warehouse.
outside in the dock are the coaster robin and three different types of tugs.including one of the low small tugs used in the docks years ago.also there are five dutch type barges, one is still all cargo and one is used as a floating church.the others are houseboats.other parts of the warehouse are given over to restaurants with accomadation above.
the museum tells the history of the docks from the very begining, right up to the present day, there are lots of films to watch, and it takes a while to see it all.
to me it was a good day out, nearby is the canary wharf shopping centre.and other boats in various docks, such as a modern fishing boat, old passenger boats and more houseboats.
most of which can be seen from the docklands light railway.
the entrance ticket admission lasts for a whole year,i will be going again.as a senior it cost me £3.00.

To Quote BBC this morning: “School-leavers are to be encouraged to swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen under new government proposals being unveiled on British citizenship.”
What a load of old b*****ks!
I have always thought of I was a subject and not a citizen? Does it matter?
Wouldn’t it be better to spend more money and time on real school – teaching and learning. Just when your thought new Labour had exhausted their control trickery and loony toonery they come up with more diversionary s***e.

Hello everybody,

I am an editorial journalist for a German tv-documentary called "missing" where we reunite long lost relatives. In this context I am looking for a man called JOSÉ LUIS PADILLA (a blond Spanish) who worked on the REINA DEL MAR in 1958 and/ until 1960. While sailing from Peru to Germany in 1958, José Luis Padilla conceived a son (Michael) with a German girl. His son Michael has been looking for his father for almost 50 years now. If anybody knew or worked together with José Luis Padilla, please let me know!

Anybody, please be so kind to help a son find his long lost father!

If you have any hints or ideas, please don't hesitate to contact me anytime: 0049.176.15030059 or email me: angela.giese@endemol.de

Thank you all so much,
Angela

Hi y'all

Maybe I’ve just been unlucky but I am currently on my fifth PC printer the replacement cartridges for which costing as much as the machine itself, (and which seems to require an honours Degree in Astral Physics simply to extract it from its formidable packaging.)
Perhaps the answer is to dump the current model when the ink runs out and buy a new one, then at least one winds up with an ongoing 12 months guarantee!

cheers
Tony

Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend
Your days are numbered, being brought to an end
To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that is fine
But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.

The French and the Germans may call themselves such
may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch
You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane
But don't say you're English ever again

At Broadcasting House the word is taboo
In Brussels its Scrapped, in Parliament too
Even schools are affected, staff do as they're told
They must not teach children about England of old

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw
The pupils do not learn about them anymore
How about Agincourt, Hastings, Arnhem or Mons
When England lost hosts of her very brave sons

We are not Europeans, how can we be?
Europe is miles away over the sea
We're the English from England, let's all be proud
Stand up and be counted- Shout it out loud

Let's tell our Government and Brussels too
We're proud of our heritage and the Red White and Blue
Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack
Let the world know - we want OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!!

I would like to get hold of a copy of the "Journal of Commerce" I think my chances are very slim but I wont know until I try.
I am sure a lot you older seafarers will remember this paper, I used to buy it,I am sure every Thursday during my apprenticeship 1952-1957 as it was my intention to go to sea on completion.
To me it was such an interesting paper with loads of articles about shipping companies & of course the arrival/departure of ships to & from ports all over the world.
Looking forward to some response, any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes to all,
John Aspin (Ormesby-Middlesbrough)

Point of Order Mr Speaker, now that we are all chums together in the EU (and presumably all equal??)does this mean that the UK can stop paying our annual contribution (£6billion?) in to the Brussels gravy-train?

I served in the Fort Carillon in 1949. It's a long time ago now, and my memory seems to have few gaps! I know that we (deck crew) lived on the port side aft. I remember the accomodation down below. I was in a 4-berth cabin at he foot of the stairs. There was a big messroom above. but I have no recollection of the washing/toilet arrangement. I'm sure that we had no bath or shower, so it was a bucket and steampipe setup. Can anybody help with this? It's annoying not to remember stuff is it not?
