Frank,
Of the 5 photos listed on the site Vernon gave you, pictures 02,03 & 05 relate to the vessel you want "Eastern Prince IV", 01 and 04 are "Eastern Prince V". Here are a few more details to put with Vernon's.
Sister to "Northern Prince" , built by Napier & Miller,Glasgow, launched Jan.29 1929, delivered in the June.
In 1932 she rescued the crew of the "Artemis" aground off Bahia. In 1940 she made 7 round trips to to Canada with children and civilian personnel. In the Nov. of that year converted to a troopship at Liverpool, and was damaged by German bombers during the work. Commissioned for 1,200 men.
In 1943 she was refitted at Baltimore with US standee bunks. and the capacity was increased to 2,150. 1945 saw her used as the accommodation ship for the Yalta conference.
In 1946 she was acquired by the M.O.T for use as a troopship
and given a large washroom house under the foremast. 1950 saw her renamed"Empire Medway" with Prince Line retaining management. White hull, blue band yellow funnel (see photos). She was employed on the Soton- Gib-Trieste or Cyprus-Port Said and Lebanon. 1953 saw her broken up at Faslane. (Acknowledgement to 'Merchant Fleets' Duncan Haws)
Hope this fills in a few blanks,
Regards Ray.
