Hello Beverley,

Your father's service record (CRS10) should be held at the National Archives, Kew in piece details BT382/1768 at this link here: http://tinyurl.com/4mokhp Copy and paste into your browser. to get the file hit the link then "Request this" and take the Digital Express option and follow instructions. Ask for the CRS10 for James Patrick Taylor born Torquay (date). The cost is £8.50 for up to 10 document pages emailed to you (24 hour service) on a no find no fee basis.

Is this your father: R411866 TAYLOR J P 16/08/1931 TORQUAY If so he has a seaman's pouch at the National Archives in piece BT372/1108/138 at this link here: http://tinyurl.com/4svppv
Same procedure for ordering as above. The seaman's pouch is hit and miss some contain lots of info others have very little. The only way to find out is to order it. They usually contain a photo mugshot.

Regards
Hugh
