Have read many reasons fot the term, must say i do like Vernons version. Fact is no one is really sure how it came into being. The most popular are Prisoner of H.M. and from Pomeganite. there are reporst that on the tciket of leave, given after seven years in the colony, the letters P.h.o.m. were printed but what did they mean, no one is sure. happy daze john in oz
