Joining the Blanford as a 2nd cook & baker,I went to my cabin and on opening the door I saw a Goose, a big fat White Goose, sitting on the bunk, who promptly showed me to the door, Having been pissed the night before, and seen a few pink elephants in my time, this episode nearly turned me teetotal.
It turned out that the previous Sec had bought a goose chick somewhere when pissed, and reared it in his cabin.
On arriving in the UK he was not allowed to bring it ashore so had left it for me. By all accounts he was distraught on leaving the bird to it's fate.
I'd like to say that we let it go, free as a bird as geese go, soaring in the sky.

No we eat it. bloody lovely.
