Syd,
This subject has brought back some memories on my first trip we sailed down to South America calling in @ the Cape Verde Islands while at anchor one of the sailors bought a little black pig, not a problem you think but the crew & the Arab donkeymen etc who all lived aft opposite one another well during the night the pig decided to go for a walk and ended up in the Arabs accomodation & you can imagine there was all hell let loose with them not liking pork, however before the weekly inspection Sunday morning they decided to put it in a sack on the poop deck so the captain wouldn't see it because he never went up on the poop deck but this particular day he decided to do so on seeing the sack he he kicked & asked what in there there was no need for a reply because the pig squealed, the captain ordered over the side, what a waste of some bacon sandwiches.
Best wishes to all,
John Aspin (Ormesby-Middlesbrough.
