Hi Dennis.
I was a delegate on some of the ships on the NZ coast, and unlike the UK union the seamen ran the union. every ship I was on had a delegate with the young [Bucko] OS being the co delegate in order to learn what it meant to keep the conditions and wages fought for over the years.[I agree with you there were a very small number who were anti, but still took the money} What a lot of people didn't know is that the Union Company were glad to have the union, as we kept the Tasman trade free of foriegn flagged ships, thus they made a good profit, and we kept our jobs.
