Jim, it is possible, but dont get caught up with all the books out there "Jobs On Cruise Ships"....they are mostly a rip off.
Nearly all the major cruise lines get their hairdresser/beauty spa/massage staff through a contract with a concessionaire, the main one being Steiner Leisure Ltd, 770 South Dixie Hwy, Coral Gable, Florida, 33146. There are a few cruise lines that will employ such staff directly, but you have to apply to their corporate office, I can supply some of the major corporate office addresse's if you want. P&O cruise ships now come under "Princess Cruises". The food and beverage waiters are mostly employed through agencies in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand etc. During my last 14 years sea service as master on cruise ships, the food and bar waiters were paid the basic princely sum of $50 a month, if they were good, they could make good tips and earn up to $600 per week.....long, long hours and hard work !
The pursers, cruise staff etc are normally hired directly by the cruise lines. Cheers.....Glan
