Yes--I also found that scene quite poignant. It was like both of them wanted to do something more emotional, but were restrained by needing to appear "masculine" and not show affection.

I had assumed this departure was intentional. It seems so convenient to have him go to Ireland b/c he was leaving the show. I'd be curious to hear more info if you have it about the timeline in Frawley's departure and when Demarest was written in.
