I'm sure that FRP hulls have a life span like all else. What that lifespan is, well, is anybodies guess because for the most part we haven't got there. There is an awful lot of variability in hulls, even of the same boat from the same production line, and some will be good and some not very. The major issue with older hulls is that they were very sloppy in many cases with resin wet-out and built the hulls with far too high of a resin content, which shrinks eventually and leads to widespread crazing of the laminate. How much weakness this causes is anyones guess. Of course as well water migration is a problems, but again is obvious due to blisters and the rest. As far as I'm ever been concerned, with fiberglass what you see is what you get. If there are no visible problems theres unlikely to be anything really major with that.

Unless you're a crackerjack woodworker, you have no business looking into wood boats. As for rebuilding, there's no reason why a FRP boat could not be peeling down and reglassed, although a dirty messy job one requiring few skills but obstinance.
