Subject: Did any of you see NCIS last night?

It looks like DPB (who wrote the 2-part ep.) did a little JAG script recycling. Gibbs finally got his memory back (Harm lost his too) and when he couldn't stop the bomb from blowing up and save the crew and the sailors sent to board (necessary casualities for PR reasons) got so fed up with the bureaucracy that he turned in his badge to Tony.

The scene of him walking out toward the elevator reminded me of Harm doing the same. What do you want to bet that Jenny will put him on sick leave or vacation time so his resignation won't go through like AJ did with Mac. Only in this case there's no paperwork to "never get around to filing" since Gibbs didn't even write a resignation letter before heading off to Mexico.

I see the potential for more "recycling" next season. The show's coming back, right?

[> I was equally disappointed; as brilliant as DPB is, he must be feeling very lazy. He used this storyline on JAG twice, and now he's using it on his "baby." Puhleese! -- DJEgirl... betting Gibbs won't be gone for more than five episodes... just 'til sweeps., 15:30:33 05/17/06 Wed

[> The show is coming back, and I'd bet my bottom dollar that Gibb's is coming back, too. OUR problem is that we've been through all of this before; otherwise, to the uninformed, this was a good episode. Tony grew up a little; Ziva was able to unburden herself; Jenny showed some UST that has been wanting to come out; Gibbs lost his memory, but we gained knowledge of his background; and we received a flashback of JAG! Al in all, I'd say that was a pretty entertaining evening. -- Postrider, waiting for the next tear-jerker at CSI tomorrow..., 17:51:13 05/17/06 Wed

[> I kind of felt this way the whole season and some of last season too. We had a character almost die (Tony and Gibbs), someone being stalked (Abby), someone being kidnapped (Jenny) and someone being under investigation for wrongful death (McGee and Ziva). Oh well, it's still entertaining and I just take it with a shaker of salt, like I did with JAG! -- psugs, 17:52:17 05/17/06 Wed

[> Girls, we are thinking alike. I told DH last night the exact same thing, LOL. I understand the frustration you would feel but there was no leading up to Gibbs' reaction. WE know that Gibbs will be back, the bet will be when -- janette, 17:52:55 05/17/06 Wed

[> [> Since Harm went flying (1st resignation) and was back at JAG within about 3 eps. if memory serves (same time Mac was out after the wedding was called off) I'd give Gibbs about the same timeframe. Of course, we saw Harm and Mac during those eps and could see Gibbs too ... getting into trouble w/ his old boss in Mexico ... like Harm and Mac did in the forest when he took her flying. Or Gibbs will only be out one ep and come back like Mac did when she "resigned". Ah, let's split the difference and say 2 eps. at most before the team goes dragging him back because Tony is driving them all crazy! -- Sunny, 20:00:56 05/17/06 Wed

[> [> [> BTW, my mom thinks Gibbs and his old boss will go hunting for Ping (who I say got killed on the ship, but could be wrong) on their own...foreshadowed by Gibbs doing his "justice" on his family's killer ... and then will come back to NCIS, knowing if he can't do it while still an agent but could as a civilian. -- Sunny, 20:04:16 05/17/06 Wed

[> [> [> [> After JAG I only hanged on for Harm and Mac but I learned my lesson never to watch a DB show ever again. I give props to Jag fans that are still enamored with NCIS and DB because Im not.Hate to be telling folks again and again I told you so. -- muffin, 21:02:07 05/17/06 Wed

[> [> [> [> [> I know my number doesn't count - it didn't add up when I DID watch JAG and it won't matter that I DON'T Watch NCIS- but 1. It's the principle of the thing. and 2. it REALLY ticks me off to watch that show getting major recognition for recycled JAG plots.... the two times I've stopped long enough flipping channels to see I've been screaming the name of JAG titles at the TV... the one I remember off the top of my head - was the remake of Webb of Lies- Gibbs FBI buddy fakes his death - HA!!! - -- chris K - who doesn't think DPB has an original thought left in his head, 09:09:03 05/18/06 Thu

[> [> [> [> [> [> Well, chris, if one were smart enough and had read enough early literatute, one would find that there are no original ideas left anyway--just variations on a theme. So, better that DB plagiarize his own work than someone else's. At least it works, since the ratings ARE so high. DB paid tribute to this notion when he had Bud reciting Star Trek episodes based on Shakespeare's work. "There is nothing new under the sun." so why not just bask in the warmth of an old favorite? -- Postrider. If the plot thickens, it's probably because the soup has been sitting around for awhile..., 11:53:12 05/18/06 Thu
