Subject: Guess what?!

Tonight, I was scanning groceries at work as usual. Tomatoes, two-liters of soda, steaks, etc... boring. Well, I was about halfway through my shift when I had a young man (roughly my age) come through my line and use his credit card. Our store requires a manual punch-in of credit cards, so I asked for his Visa, which he handed to me. And lo and behold...

His last name was Rabb.

My eyeballs doubled in size, and I told him excitedly that I had never met someone with his last name before. My bagger, dork that he is, looked up and goes, "what last name?" I told him that it was the same last name as my 'childhood hero,' who was only the greatest fighter pilot ever. The customer grinned as I handed his card back to him and commented, "it was a great TV show!" I asked him, "You watched it, too?!" He nodded and gave me a smile as he walked out the door, leaving me grinning and my bagger still bewildered.

Some days, I just love being a poor college student who scans groceries for a living.
