Subject: I'm in the clutches of great dispair

First let me just say HI to everyone. I've been here since season six and have posted very infrequently. But I love you guys.

Now…
I’ve never been so invested in a show before. And even now that it’s gone for a while, I can’t get our favorite couple out of my head. Pop back in here often just to see what’s going on (it’s been kind of slow lately though). I jump between here and the Harmyboard. I thought I was satisfied with the series ending but as each day goes by, I find that I feel cheated, CHEATED I tell you. I wanted more. I wanted a little courting. A little back and forth with the friendly barbs. Was a little dinner and a movie too much to ask for? I mean, in a way, the ending made sense. The got right to the point but then again, it was just a bit too summarized.

I even miss the great fanfic that used to be out there. I miss the virtual season. I miss the Valarie sagas. I want more of CharS’ Couples Therapy. I understand that the muse isn’t there anymore but, SIGH, I’m experiencing serious withdrawal symptoms here. I just read something by LizD over at Fanfiction.net (The Cold Light of Day). It didn’t have a “ride off into the sunset” kind of ending. H&M had kids, ups and downs, worries, fights, you know, real life stuff. But it was totally imaginable. I wanted a little of that in the end.

SIGH! I’m let to use my imagination, but that was never so great anyway. So in the end, I guess I just continue to visit you folks (I consider you friend, even if we’ve never met) for as long as it lasts. Thanks for hanging around. Thanks for letting me vent a little. I think I go back a reread a few fics.

[> Creaker, I doubt that you are alone in feeling cheated. The only solace that I might offer is that I doubt if TPTB would have given us what we wanted IF the stars hadn't aligned just the way they did! IF DJE had stayed on board (through the miracle of a decreased salary demand and a DPB acceptance!) and IF the series hadn't been abruptly cancelled (ironically because of the ill-advised attempt to re-invent itself into NAVY, 90210), then maybe, just MAYBE,...>>>INSIDE>>> -- Postrider, who is hanging in there...as the noose becomes increasingly tight around my neck!, 18:05:09 08/22/06 Tue

...we might have had enough time to develop the H/M relationship the way you described...but, I doubt it. I think that TPTB, armed with an extension in the status quo, would have blithely continued on the path of "dating, without calling it dating" until Harm and Mac were seen to bump heads under the table one evening, awakened from their concussed blackouts, and disavowed knowledge of who each other was! Either that, or turn bald and gray right before our eyes, and at 84, go off to study Philosophy at Oxford on their honeymoon (Hugh O'Brien, anyone?).

[> [> Oh, Postrider, it´s good to know that despite the changes SOME things have remained the same. You had me ... ... throughout that post. NAVY 90210? Hey, Creaker! ... I guess many feel the same way (myself included). Right after the show ended we were so excited H&M HAD ended together that we didn´t give that too much thought. It was more like a "WHEW! They made it!! Unharmed!!!" (No pun intended!) Now when I think about it I, too, feel we deserved A LOT MORE!!!!!! On the other hand, it´s all water under the bridge now. I guess we need a new obsession... QUICKLY!!! LOLOL -- Lucia ... waving to all!, 21:52:38 08/22/06 Tue

[> [> [> [> In my youth, he was Wyatt Earp in a fictional portrayal of a real life Marshal of our Old West. The gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, AZ was the big event that is always chronicled in his life; so, in short, Acer, it was a cowboy show. -- Postrider "Wyatt Earp, Wyatt Earp, brave courageous and bold. [> [> [> [> [> LOL! I didn't know who Hugh was, either. I got a post-card from my sister the other day. It had one of her wedding pictures on the front and said "It's time to celebrate!" On the back it read, "We made a year!" Which is phenomenal when you consider her personality and the fact that she was on her own till getting married for the first time at 50. If I wasn't so close to 50 myself I'd make a crack about whether they have been able to do it at all. And then again I remember talking to my 20 year old god-daughter earlier this summer about how I'm still a sexual being and she cut me off with an "Ew Auntie C, we are not going to talk about that!" Well I never! It's not as if I'm MY mother's age or anything. LOL! -- Carrotts, 11:46:24 08/24/06 Thu

[> [> [> [> [> [> Again, I guess I got more than I asked! LOLOL Think of the lucky old guy who got married for the first time at 84 is one thing... Think of the sexual life of my old relatives (say mother) is ...EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! -- Acer, 20:59:52 08/24/06 Thu
