Hey, girl, read my post to the letter above yours. It may help.

This is not an easy diet to stick to. Let's face it we all love good food. This is natural and to be expected. Force feeding ourselves isn't fun. Even though I'm the one who told you to eat more calories, I'm not sure that was the best advice. I couldn't do it, I tried, for about two or three days, and did lose a little then, but I couldn't stick to it.

Essentially if your metabolic level is used to eating a specific amount of calories per day, what you need is to increase that metabolic level. There are several ways to do that. One is to make sure you aren't eating too little. In my case I often find that I miss meals, don't eat for hours, and that isn't healthy. The experts on this say you should eat a little every two or three hours. You shouldn't miss breakfast, you shouldn't get too hungry.

I think you probably should focus on that idea more than eating more total per day. Just eat a little more often, keep your blood sugar level rather than doing dips and spikes. The other thing you can do to rev up your metabolism is to excercise. Increase your activity levels. I really believe in the value of increasing muscle mass. I started lifting weights in June, and I've had some weird sorts of progress since then, but one thing that I have noticed is that with the extra muscle, my dietary cheats (which are far too frequent) don't throw my progress into as much of a tailspin as they used to.

In other words I don't immediately gain back 12 pounds after a week of cheating on the diet.

Muscle burns more calories even at rest, and the more muscle you have on your body the more you are able to consume without gaining.

I read one time something that meant something to me, maybe it will to you too. It has to do with rules. All of us make "rules" for ourselves. We either live by those rules or we break them. If we live by them we feel good about ourselves, if we break them we feel bad.

The trick is to examine those rules. And to make sure that we haven't made so many that there is no way we can win. Eating low carb is a rule. Eating a certain number of calories a day is a rule. Excercising is a rule. Living up to the committments we have made to ourselves is a rule.

Maybe we have too many rules. Maybe we should lower our standards. Maybe we should give ourselves permission to feel good about ourselves if we simply follow one of those rules.

I found that I had made so many rules that I never got the reward for following the rules. And it happened about the time I decided to up my calories (and found that it was harder to do than I had expected). So maybe you should just forget about that one and try to do your best otherwise. I think I may have done you a disservice by suggesting that one.

You sound like you are feeling a little like I was when I tried it. LIke I just couldn't do it all, and the reward, the feeling good just wasn't there anymore. Ya know what I mean?
