IF you have actually gone down two dress sizes and maintained the same weight that means that you have gained muscle and lost fat! VERY improtant to maintain muscle while dieting. Most diets don't allow you to maintain muscle much less gain any. Most diets you lose muscle on. This is really bad news when this happens because then you go off the diet, and guess what happens? You immediately gain back all the weight you lost and since you lost muscle too, your fat to muscle ratio changes and that makes it easier to gain even MORE weight.

This diet because you eat so much protein tends to spare your mucsles more, so if you have stayed the same, but gotten smaller that is simply great news!

What we need to do is to stop thinking in terms of "losing weight". We don't want to lose weight what we really want to do is to "lose fat". If there is anyway you can take or determine your fat percentage I urge you to do that. There are somewhat inadequate programs out there that will calculate it for you based on measurements etc. Better than nothing. Most accurate is hydrostatic weighing. Next is fat calipers. Set for yourself a fat percentage goal rather than a weight goal.

The more muscle you have the more you can eat without gaining weight. Muscle is active tissue and requires more calories to maintain than fat does. Muscle works, fat just sits there.

I have had a similar experience, and for about two years I was pretty frustrated with it. Lost 50 pounds and then for about 2 years didn't lose any more. But lost 23.75 inches during that time... How? Muscle gained, fat lost. it is the only explanation. Fat takes up more space than muscle does.

  • This diet is about getting rid of fat not about losing muscle tissue along the way -- Alex de Jong, 23:20:35 09/07/02 Sat
