Hi, Some have experienced constipation, some have had diarhea. It is different with different people. For me, I get a little of both. But mostly after I have been eating a lot of carbs.

You are just starting out, your body no doubt isn't used to you making changes on it. I suppose there are a few things you could do, you could up your carb level and then lower it again gradually. It is possible that your body is just being thrown into shock by such an abrupt change.

Protein Power explains that our bodies only produce the enzymes we need as we need them. Your body is so used to producing the enzymes it needs to metabolize carbs that when you suddenly shift over to high protein/low carb, it has all these enzymes running around in there with nothing to do. This can cause some uncomfortable sensations for a few days.

It sounds to me like your body is trying to get rid of all those carbs and enzymes you have been producing for years. After a few days (Protein Power says) your body will get used to what you are feeding it and will start to produce the proper enzymes for what you are eating now. Be patient and you will soon begin to feel better. Nearly everyone goes through some sort of "withdrawal" symptoms when they first start low carbing. It is rather natural I think. For me I felt like I had the flu, I couldn't get warm without crawling under covers. And like you I didn't feel like I could stand to feel that way much longer. I increased my carb level and felt better immediately. My body has since gotten used to eating low carb and I've never had those flu-like symptoms again.

However I do get terribly SICK now if I binge too heavy on carbs. I get both constipation and diarhea and sometimes throw up.

My body warns me when I put "poison" things into it now and I really consider the kind of carbs that most people eat (and that I occasionally binge on) to be poison. Especially when you are used to eating healthy and suddenly overdose on junk.

I've been on a pretty strict regimen lately, yesterday was my first "free day" when I was supposed to be able to eat anything I wanted. I had a banana chocolate milkshake and it made me feel sick.

One other thing that I should suggest to you. Are you eating a lot of fat? You might want to cut down on that for a few days if you are. Some people aren't bothered by fat, but if you've been low fat eating for any length of time, it might be rough on you if you are adding in too much at once.

Some people who have eaten low fat for a long time get gallstones. Eating fat actually helps keep you from getting gallstones, but if you already have them eating fat can make them try and pass out of your gall bladder and this can cause pain. I'm not saying you have gall stones, but you might want to go do some research on the net and see if the symptoms apply to you.
