Subject: Nursing has a natural tendancy to help you lose weight. You should see my mother cats, they are nothing but skin and bones due to all the calories they are giving away. My sister... (see text)

with her second baby decided to take advantage of this natural weight loss action and fasted every few days while nursing. She lost tremendous amounts of weight and looked fantastic when she was done. She said that the only effect she found was that her milk supply was a little low on her fasting days.

I wouldn't recommend this, but I think that fasting is similar to low carb in its ketogenic ability. I think (though I'm no doctor) that you could safely do it (the low carb thing I mean). Eat LOTS of protein, and observe the baby carefully. Make sure that he or she doesn't "fail to thrive" or whatever it is the doctors call it. Nurse as long as you can (8 months or more) and you should be able to get to goal weight. I would have nursed both of my last two a lot longer than I did, but they both wanted to move on to solid food. My daughter at least wasn't getting enough to eat from me, (I was pregnant with her little brother at the time). My son too I think failed to get enough food just through mom alone. But then I was past 35 with both of them.
