I know what you mean. I had the same problem, trying to eat enough. What winds up happening is that you eat more fat. Fat is 9 calories per gram rather than the 4 that carbs and protein are. Try and make sure they are healthy fats. Avocado, olive oil, there are others, but I can't remember what all they are right now.

How many calories did you find you were eating when you calculated them?
