If you are still on induction meat, eggs, salad, cream, butter, and green veggys are a good thing to stick to until induction is over with.

After induction you can add in more foods, but to be honest I mostly live with certain foods simply taboo in my life they are: sweets, corn, (dried) beans, bread, rice, flour, potatoes.

Most veggys if they aren't real starchy I allow, all meats, or fats or cheeses I allow myself. By avoiding the above foods I do fine.

Now when you get to the point where you just have to have something sweet, there are things you can have, (but it is best to wait until induction is over with).

One thing that I buy occasionally is a "no sugar added" candy bar called Guylian from Belgium. It is really good, but you can't eat too many pieces.

I also buy Torani syrups which are sweetened with Splenda, and add them to cream for a treat.

You can add some low glycemic fruits back in after induction. These are mostly berries (and a few others).

You can make your own ice cream using Splenda for sweetener and real cream (not milk).

Or you could buy some of the no sugar added ice creams which still aren't that low in carbs, but if you want them Breyer's makes a good one. It has like 11 grams per half cup though, so watch how much you eat (and again better to wait until after induction).

Hope this helps some

  • Emma why are you unsure of which foods you should be eating/avoiding? If you are in induction, that indicates you are following the Atkins diet. Atkins specifies EXACTLY which foods you should be eating/avoiding in his book. Get yourself a copy; you owe it to yourself! (NT) -- Kel, 15:34:27 08/31/02 Sat
  • If you don't have the book, you can start out by going to atkinscenter.com. Click on "How to do Atkins" near the top and then click "Induction" in the left column. More information there than you can shake a stick at, including a list of permitted foods. (NT) -- jaytee, 17:30:23 08/31/02 Sat
