I'm so glad you've gotten into weight lifting Sherry. I think it is a great way to get your body in shape. One thing that I did especially when I was just starting out was ingest some sort of dextrose about 15 min before starting a set. Now don't get me wrong, I am not telling anyone to eat sugar, but the best form of dextrose that I could find was in those straw pixi stix that kids eat. Just the small ones, not the ones shaped like a hoola hoop. Your muscles need the extra energy when you lift weights and you usually burn up to an additional 15 carbs in the form of dextrose from the workout so it did not hurt my weight loss. It gave me the additional stamina to finish all the sets that I did on the universal gym. Before I did it I wasn't able to complete the entire set and some of my muscles were not getting an even workout. Just an idea, let me know if anyone tries it. Remember this is for weight lifting only. Muscle intense workouts only.
