I understand about the grief over your mom. I still sometimes find myself crying over my dad being gone, and he's been gone some 25 years.

Sorry your friends all pooped out on you. It happens sometimes, I'm sure they will all help you celebrate when things settle down for them. You are really very lucky to have three close personal friends, even if they aren't able to be there for you right now.

I have one, and I rarely see her, (but we talk from time to time). I've moved (major moves) several times in my life and left a lot of my best friends behind in other cities and really haven't made that many new ones here. So to have three close friends makes you seem like a wealthy woman to me.

I know that probably isn't any comfort right now. But I think Lynne might be right. Making new traditions is a good way to think of it.

You sound like you are pre-TOM, like those hormones are kicking in to make things seem un-rosy. I hope you feel better soon.

30 to 40 grams a day is probably a healthy place to go for you.

I think that any sudden intense carbs after not having many is a shock to our bodies. It isn't healthy to suddenly spring that on ourselves.

Like any toxin, small amounts at a time our bodies can handle, but pour a bunch in at once and watch the body rebel! I guess sugar acts that way on us because we are used to eating healthy.

For me, suddenly eating bread makes me nauseated and have indigestion. Suddenly eating sugar makes me get diarhea. I haven't experienced exactly what you described, but I do feel sick from suddenly increasing carb levels. It is weird isn't it?

Anyway I hope you feel better soon, sounds like you have the blues. This too will pass.

  • Katie, that is the one drawback of eating more daily carbs; you crave them more & have to try to focus on staying on track more than on Atkins induction. Sorry I didn't think to warn you first. ((( Katie ))) I'm here for you if you need me, I'm sorry you are having a hard time. (NT) -- Kel, 18:05:00 08/12/02 Mon
