Subject: re not cheating
In reply to: Kel 's message, "Roll Call!" on 05:17:56 08/13/02 Tue

I was doing good, this last no cheat challenge though I think I cheated a little every day. Saturday it was mostly blackberry cobbler (one serving) and some ice cream (over the cobbler and then another serving later).

Sunday I was really bad (treasures), Monday some bread and only a few treasures.

Today, I'm still not back on track totally. So for 13 days, I've been good 9 of them. About like you.

I've been working my butt off though in the excercise part of things. Worked out in some way or another nearly every day.

So what is your ultimate goal Kel? How much is it that you do want to weigh come December? Remember that November is a difficult month because of Thanksgiving being in there, and some here seem to start having trouble about the time Halloween comes around. I find that my motivation is a lot lower during the winter months, and I'm not sure it has a thing to do with the holidays (since I don't celebrate them). I just get more depressed when the days get shorter, tend to put on weight (like a bear) when it is time to hibernate.

I don't know how tall you are, but if I was at your weight I would probably consider myself at goal, (or so close that I wouldn't much care if I went the rest of the way or not).

I'm not trying to discourage you, only you know how much you want to weigh, but 139 sounds like heaven from where I'm coming from. My original goal was 130, but I don't know if I will ever make that, if I get close I will be delighted.

At my age I doubt if it will ever happen though, and I'm not sure if I would look good at that weight (now) if I did. I saw my sister with less weight not long ago, and I thought it made her look older. She is like 11 years older than me now though, so maybe I won't have that same problem (yet), but I have seen people who looked LESS attractive when they were thinner. One guy I know scared me when I first saw him after he lost a lot of weight. I looked at him and he had always been big and solid looking (like a Norweigan Viking or something) and I never thought of him as fat. When I saw him with a bunch of weight lost he look older and kind of drawn, I thought maybe he had cancer or something. He looked less healthy, like someone who had lost a lot of weight because they had been sick.

I didn't tell him that, I didn't want to discourage him he was so proud of his weight loss. But my first emotional reaction on seeing him was worry for his health. Weird huh?

Some people actually look better with some fat on them. But not me of course.

I know what you mean about needing to "refocus my efforts" me too. I did so good the first 10 days or so. I need to start again and commit to "until the end of the month" no cheats.

I know my weight will probably go up toward the end of the month (it always does) and I would like to lose enough before then that I won't find that so discouraging.

So I think tomorrow I will get back on the last two days of this no cheat challenge. And maybe commit myself for another "induction" If I can go 9 of the 14 days like I did last time, maybe that will get me through most of the month. I'd really like to see 219 before this month is out.
