Subject: I had this problem too when I first started...(more)

I have baby fine hair, and not a lot of it either. When I first went on LC, I started noticing it was coming out at an alarming rate; my hairdresser noticed it too. I didn't know what the cause could be because I was taking 2 multi-vitamins a day plus OMEGA-3. I panicked and went to the vitamin store where they sold me a special hair formula vitamin they said would help me. I took this expensive stuff for a month and the problem only got worse. I continued to take it though because I didn't know what else to do.

Someone told me that on a LC diet you often have this problem and even Dr. Atkins mentions it on his site. They said I should supplement Biotin and L-Cysteine. So I went back to the vitamin store and bought some of this. The problem got a little better, but continued and I was starting to look at Rogaine for Women because I didn't want to stop LC'g. Then one day I asked my doctor, and I brought him all the supplements I was taking. He looked them over and suggested that I was getting wayyyy too much vitamin-A. Vitamin-A is great for hair, but if you get too much of it, it can have the opposite effect and your hair will fall out. I stopped taking the special hair formula because this had 200% D.R.A. of Vitamin-A. The multi-vitamins had 100% D.R.A. each, and I was already getting plenty of Vitamin-A from my diet. I stopped all this nonsense immediately and the hair loss stopped immediately too. I still continue to take Biotin and L-Cysteine; I still continue to take ONE multivitamin, along with B-50, Calcuim, Magnesium, Chromium Picolinate, Fibercon, and OMEGA-3. I have no more problems and my hairdresser says my hair is in the best shape she's seen it in. Maybe you should try cutting your multi-vitamin in half and stop taking any extra vitamin-A (if you're taking any). Maybe try adding Biotin and L-Cysteine like I did also. I know supplements are expensive, but you're worth it! Hope this helps.
