Subject: Caffeine is bad according to Atkins....
In reply to: Beth 's message, "Newbie thoughts and questions!!" on 15:10:01 07/24/02 Wed

When i first started induction i switched to Equal in my coffee and diet Mountain Dew. I worked outside and generally drank two 24 oz coffees and a liter of Dew each day. I was on induction for a week and didnt lose any weight. I started looking through my Atkins book trying to figure out what was wrong. I came across a statement where he said that caffeine can mimic sugar in the body and cause an insulin release.

I stopped drinking coffee (i really miss cappacino alot) and swtiched to diet caffeine free colas and iced tea. after that i started dropping weight.

i would recommend avaoiding caffeine.
