In reply to: Katie 's message, "5 inches!!! That is great, Sherry!!! All your hard work is paying off. I think the swollen ankle thing is heat related. Mine were bad over the weekend, then it cooled off and they got better. It's supposed to get hot here again today and my ankles have already puffed a little bit. Try elevating your feet when you take a break and when you get home from work." on 09:23:14 06/19/02 Wed

That is only over the areas that I have posted on the flocers site. Plus it is always hard to tell if you are measuring in the same spot each time or not, so I'm not certain that it is really that much.

Time of the month, hormones, water retention, can all play a factor in whether you are larger or smaller too, so it could just be a difference between WHEN I measured and now.

But I do feel smaller. My husband hugs me and says I am smaller. My tummy in the bathtub looks smaller (I measure by the water around it).

I think the hard work is working. I'm worried though. Part of what I have been doing lately is to hardly eat. It isn't intentional but that nagging voice at the back of my head keeps on telling me that "It's ok, you can miss this meal, maybe you'll lose some weight".

I hate the ambivalence I'm feeling over this. I'm afraid that I'm putting myself into starvation mode and that will make it harder to lose.

On the other hand, when I try to eat more calories, I worry that will backfire too.

My mind goes back and forth and it hasn't settled on one answer. I just hope I'm not screwing myself up.
