You weigh about what I do, (225 this morning). But you are likely to lose a lot faster than me, because I've been doing this diet for going on three years now, and after awhile your weight loss slows some (though you wouldn't know it by my progress this month!)

This is a great place for support and advice. We are usually a little slow on the weekends, but since today is weigh in day for our challenge, we've had a little more activity today than usual.

I've lost 57 pounds since I started. You sound like most of your weight gain is recent, so it should come off really fast. The idea here is to let this become a lifestyle, and not think of it as a diet alone. With Atkins you need to be on it long enough to realize that you can't 'go back' to your normal way of eating and hope to keep the weight off.

An occasional treat, is fine, but carbs tend to make us binge so avoiding most of them is much easier than thinking we can go back and forth.

Lately I have started working my body with some weight lifting excercises. This has really made the difference with my ability to lose. I was stuck at a set point of 232 for about 2 years (off and on), and being able to push myself 7 pounds below that set point is a big breakthrough for me. I really believe that adding muscle has made the difference this month.

Anyway you have come to the right place. Stick with us and we will stick with you until you reach your goal. I encourage you to increase your activity levels (try some resistance training) along with the dieting. You will find that your progress will be a lot faster, and a lot smoother as a result. (Plus you will be tightening up those areas of loss).

BUT of course small steps at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself. Again welcome aboard.
