I got these from somewhere... they are supposed to work.

One is called a reverse crunch. You lay on your back with your legs at a 90 degree andle from the floor (have them as straight as you can if you need to bend your legs at the knee and try to get as close to 90 degrees as possible) slowly lower your legs down (extended) until you can feel your lower back starting to arch and them slowly bring them back up again, if you let your back arch completely then the movement is basically scratched, plus it is really bad for your back.

Another is to lay the same way only this time have your arms extended to the sides also for balance and try to lift your legs towards the ceiling as much as you can, basically your butt comes up off the floor, but make sure your legs are straight do not bring them towards your head.

Another real good one for the lower abs is to sit on the floor with your hands behind you as a brace. Put your feet together on the floor with your knees bent at a comfortable angle, but close to 90 degrees. Press your knees together for best results. The exercise is simply to lift your feet off the ground 1-2 inches while maintaining the position/angle of the legs. Do as many as you can confortably do. If you are feeling it in the thighs, then you are doing the exercise wrong. The contraction of the lower abs is what should be lifting the legs/feet.

  • Maybe that's the secret to the muscles that are starting to be revealed on my stomach. I did breath training for singing for years, and still do the deep breathing exercises as a stress reducer. If you have a small child, they have the added benefit of making your child laugh so hard he falls over! (NT) -- Katie, 15:08:43 06/28/02 Fri
