Subject: Lots of news..... some good, some bad.............. msg

First, we are semi-cool. They did a temp. repair on our a/c coil, so we are able to keep it about 86-88 in here. Our heat index was 135 today, with humidity/dew point in the 80% range. I'd have DIED if we had no air at all! They are still looking for a new coil for us, as this one is deteriorating pretty quickly. If they can't find one, then we have to get a whole new unit.

We had gotten one of those portable a/c units you plug in and has a pipe that vents the hot air out. It was WORTHLESS! We took it back. Because of the size and location of our windows, I can't get a window unit to fit.

So.... it't not as cool and comfy as I'd like, but a hell of a lot better than 135 degrees! Humidity is running about 45% in the house.... not ideal, but at least I'm not absolutely DYING!! Please pray my coil doesn't crap out on me again!

Second.... I lost the 2 messages from my Daddy that were on the answering machine. I'd saved them all these years.... but the machine got unplugged to plug in the a/c unit... and I was so hot I didn't even think about just moving it to plug it back in so the messages wouldn't be lost. When we plugged it back in and they were gone, made me very very sad. I know I will always have them in my head and heart, but it still makes me sad that I can't listen to him in "real life" now. In both messages he told me he loved me. It was comforting to listen to them from time to time. I am going to call around tomorrow to some computer and phone repair places to see if there is any way to take the (digital) machine apart and retrieve them. Keep your paws crossed for me!

Third... a friend of mine who also does Great Dane Rescue in Phoenix is going thru hell right now. Her oldest son (in his 20's) was trying to break up a fight and got shot early Wednesday morning. The bullet ripped thru his stomach and out his back, damaging several organs. He's in critical condition, and the doctors have told the family to gather and say goodbye. My friend has a heart condition herself, and I just don't know what will happen if she loses her boy.
Please pray hard for Todd and his mom, Sharon.

My computer is still getting too hot, as I can't keep it as cool and humid-free in here as is optimal. I probably have my warning levels set on the low side, but I'd rather have to turn it off than lose everything cuz it overheats!

I should be able to check in daily tho.... now that we have SOME cool in the house.

I'm so sorry for Todd's family V. He and they have my prayers and good thoughts. I'm glad you're a little cooler. I would not be able to handle that heat. Though its been upper 90's low 100's for us, today there was a nice breeze and it wasn't as hot. I'm also sorry you lost those messages. Sending you ((((hugs)))) and I hope you can get them back. any luck retrieving your lost messages? sure hope so...and boy, sure hope your AC stays up and running!! It's been unbearabely hot here too, but nothing compared to what you guys are experiencing!! Prayers for Todd and his family. That's a tragedy. I would still not be good if my house was 80! We got a stand alone unit for our sunporch and it does a good job. Our a/c didn't quite cool that room and this keeps it very comfortable. It's a Maytag, around 300 bucks. what brand is your a/c? can we help to locate a coil for you?? We cooled off a bit today, got a touch of rain but still too warm for me. Hope you can get those messages back. Oh, wow. You've got a lot happening right now. First of all, prayers for Todd and Sharon. I'll never understand why it seems like these days, everyone thinks they need to settle things with a gun. Have you heard anything further about Todd and his condition? Second, I hope you can get some cool soon. Yesterday, it was still 77 when I got up and our dew point has been running right at 70%, which is miserably muggy. The a/c is on, ceiling fans are running and not many clothes are being worn. But......before we know it, it will be fall so I have hope. I'm just not a summer person. As for your answering machine, wishing you luck. My youngest sister has a message saved from Dad on her answering machine and I keep asking her to please make a copy of it and send it to me.
