Is anybody as tired of the cold as I am? Yesterday, I guess, wasn't too bad since we finally broke freezing. At least the sun was out, making for a beautiful sunset. But it's zero degrees this morning and I keep thinking of the gas bill.............yeouch!! We took Cricket to the vet yesterday for a depo shot (4 weeks minus 2 days) and he's doing so well. Chicory is also doing great. His insulin was decreased and he's gaining weight, looking and walking so much better. Our vet feels that Chicory *might* just be able to be manageable by diet alone, since his glucose is staying very low during the day. Keeping our fingers crossed for a good outcome for him. Another very sleepy morning. Dogs kept waking me up last night...they were restless. Came to work at 6:30 half asleep. We've already had one dog dropped off this morning, and will be filling up today for the holiday weekend. Luckily the 3 hyper dogs that have come in (yesterday and today) are entertaining each other... LOL Have Piggy and Goose here with me again today. (Piggy came yesterday too, and got a bath and her nails done since it was so slow. I love being able to wash my kids here now with the raised tub! So much easier!! 
I do have a question Denise...it's about diabetics....I'm assuming I know the answer, but here it goes anyway...my Dad is diabetic and really does fairly well managing his sugar levels..until the summer..then he tries to do too much and his sugar dips way low....he knows it because of being confused and the staggering...I know this is bad for him, but try telling him this...but then he will get something to eat and drink and bring it back up...any idea what exactly he is doing to himself each time he pulls this stunt?? Okay! Crap! That's about as nicely as I can put it. After a horrendously bad night last night, we start pool again tonight. Hey, guys, since no one has heard from Vicki since before Christmas and she won't answer emails, etc., Gerry and I are going to try and set up a website through Cox so that we'll be able to post pictures. If we can't find the time for that or...........it doesn't work, then I'll just email out the pictures of the kitties. I had sent them to Vicki back before New Year's and I guess she's not going to post them. So whether we use Cox or set up an account with somebody like Photobucket or just email them out, be watching for some pictures. You won't believe how much Biscuit has grown!! He's already taller than Emme and he's driving her nuts. She'll walk by and he jumps on her and bites her ears, trying to get her to play. And all she does is run from him. Maybe she's playing hard to get?? Emme, I mean. Oh, well, I hope everybody's having a good Sunday. It's sunny and pretty darn nice here at about 35 degrees. And NO snow. Is it really Hump Day? It seems like this week is going ever so slowly, even though we're running our hoofies off. Not much going on today, though, except going with Ken to take Chicory to the vet this afternoon. Nothing major, just a glucose check. But after last week and the constant running, it's going to take a while before I can get rested up and feel better. All of our snow disappeared over the weekend and even when it snowed yesterday morning, it got warm enough in the afternoon to dry everything out and melt the snow. We're supposedly due for a light mix of precip tomorrow but again, it will be warm enough to melt any white stuff that might fall. I hope everybody's having a good one. yooo hooo MONA...no way are you the weight you stated. I remember a trim good lookin' gal that visited me on my job! Are you fit otherwise? I am helping friends and neighbors to attain their fittness goals~within reason~ using some dvd's & various products I have collected over the years(low impact).Happy Friday! Even though this has only been a 3 day week, at least here, it sure seems longer than that. This thing of getting back up at 5 a.m. is not agreeing with me, not after being able to sleep in for a week and a half. It's back to pool tomorrow as we have the individual tournaments. I'm not too happy about going and playing for the 3rd time this week but it's worth it for the money. Last year, I got bumped in the first round but came away with $30. Since I'm putting money aside for the huge hook-in in Lenexa in February, I can't afford to NOT go. My cash stash, if I don't dip into it before then, should be over $300 for Lenexa and I'd be happier if it were closer to $400. So many rugs, so much wool, too many patterns and such a great time. We had a *wonderful* night last night and even made it home by 1:30 a.m. We had dinner at Terry's and immediately got involved in the scotch doubles tournament. The pairing is done by blind draw, so most likely, you can't play with your spouse or a friend. Two of our teammates showed up to play also (Sheryl and Rick) but when it came down to it, I won the lottery in my draw. The guy I drew as my partner had a handicap of 7 in the APA (American Poolplayers Assoc.), which is the highest you can get. Wow! What luck for me. Gerry, Rick and Sheryl all got eliminated fairly quickly from both the winners and losers brackets but Jim and I played until just after one. What a fantastic shot this guy is!! We ended up winning $40 for our time, which was nice. Of course, after paying our tab, plus the quarters for the table, we're out some money but we still had a great time. Just a quick note here. Gerry had sent Vicki some pictures of the fuzzy kids for her to post but sent them out under HIS email. I didn't know if she'd recognize his address so I re-sent them a couple of days ago under my email. I got a response this morning..............her Chi mix, Snickers, died last Monday and Jacob died last Friday night in her arms. Happy, Happy Thursday, all!! We're having a nice, fairly quiet day at home but Gerry's taking down the tree. Biscuit never did *climb* the tree but he, Snowy and Cricket have been playing with the lower branches and chewing on the light cords so it's time for it to come down. In fact, Biscuit learned quickly that he could pull the light bulbs from the light string and play floor hockey with the bulbs. NOT a good thing. So down it comes. Hey, ladies, I'm sorry for whipping in and whipping out yet again today. I thought I'd have lots of quiet time today and be able to chat and then go to the diabetic board and introduce myself. Unfortunately, a combination of a snowstorm coming tomorrow, shopping that HAS to be finished tonight and some family issues with my older sister are taking up any and all time I *thought* I'd have. On top of all that, I'm tired and I hurt from all of the running over the past two days, which means it won't take much to make me grumpy. I've been on the phone all morning between my sisters and my one BIL and thank God we have those 1400 minutes a month or I'd be cooked. Denise, at the rate things are going, I may need to circumnavigate the board and just plain call you direct for some answers and guidance re: Chicory. Okay, we're home from the vet's office. The first blood glucose that Chicory had done over 3 weeks ago was 597. After being on the Purina DM since then, today it was 372.........better but still not great. Glucose needs to be between 80-120 but Dr. Larry said they wouldn't panic at a 200. So Chicory's now officially on insulin. Denise, I'm not going to have time today to get to the diabetic board and start posting but I figured I'd pass along the info and see if you had any words of wisdom to offer. The insulin is PZI and Ken's to give him 2 units (.05cc) once per day after he eats, preferably at the same time every morning. And we were both shown how to give the injections so I can be backup for Ken if need be. Between the insulin, the office visit, the lab work and then running to the pharmacy for the syringes, I'm now about $150 poorer but what the hey? It's only money, right?
