Subject: Maggie is such a brat!!!!! There is absolutely no way to disguise the fact that she is going to the vet.....(msg)

On Saturday (when I knew she was not in the bedroom or the living room or the kitchen) I took her carrier out of the closet covered it with "dirty clothes" and brought it downstairs and threw it out on the back porch. Later that day I put it in my car.....

Today was nothing out of the ordinary..I went to work the WW meeting, then off to work and then home....

When Rick and I were ready to go, I ran out pulled the car out of the garage and left it running so it would warm up..and Rick went upstairs to get Maggie...

She had been on the steps, and as soon as he got within one step to her she took off for the bedroom...then right into our attic way..where if she went in too far we'd never get her out.....

So, I'm downstairs and I hear Rick trying to coax her out of the attic way...I couldn't believe it..how on earth she knew what we were up to is beyond me!!!

Finally I went up and got into the closet where I keep her treats.....well the lure of getting a treat was too much for her so she did come out..but boy did Rick have to grab fast before she ate and ran!!!!

I still can't believe she had an inkling as to what we were up to!!!!!!

She made out ok...she was down about a pound from last year so I'm going to up her food a little.....which will make her happy....other than that Dr. Lee was real happy with everything. She did her annual blood work (which we started about a year or so ago) and added a check on her thyroid incase that has something to do with her weightloss.

I'm pretty sure that isn't going to be the problem (at least I sure pray not...) because I literally weigh her food each time we feed her...and I was keeping her on the low end of the suggested amount for her weight. So, we are upping that starting tonight...

Thankfully she is already over being too mad at me...and is all curled up on my lap as I'm typing this!!

Can't wait to get the blood results back on Thursday....hate waiting and worrying.....

THats so cute and I swear, They DO know! I think they can read minds, LOL!! Actually, I have read that cats are very in tune with our thoughts so maybe it was you thinking about it all and she felt it from you. My Julie seems to be the most in tune with me. I swear, all I have to do is think about taking her outside for a walk and she knows it because she is right at the door waiting. These little souls of ours sure are smart!! I don't know how they do it but I agree with you both...........they *know.* I'm glad Rick was able to catch Maggie without too much stress ----- on him and on her. And it's great that she came out so well at the vet's office. And although I know it's futile to tell you not to worry, don't worry yourself too much. If you've been weighing her food out and keeping her at the low end, that's more than likely why she dropped a pound. I wish I could do that with mine. Cinnamon and Emme could stand to lose some weight and Biscuit is getting to that point too, even though he and Emme are the most active. But Joey's my nervous Nellie and she worries off her weight. We must have a look on our face when we go after them! I've thought about this and I think for mine it's because the only time I walk at them and intend to pick them up it's to "go" or to be held and medicated. They all come to me and with so many I am never catless so theya re leary of ME coming to THEM. Hope her labs are good. Actually a little weight loss in a senior cat is more likely due to kidney issues than thyroid. Crea (creatinin) is on the blood work but protein, specific gravity, protein/phos levels on a UA show kidney issues. There can be kidney issues like protein in the urine BEFORE it shows up on blood work cause when blood work shows a problem it's usually when there is already damage or disease. Protein in the urine causes the kidneys to work harder and leads to damage. Sometimes lab work can be perfect but an ultrsound will show kidney damage. (NT) -- D, 5:29:18 am, Fri, 03/07/08
