Subject: I had the full gastric bypass in 2003. The only problem I have is sometimes food gets stuck because I eat too fast. If they had the lap-band pefected like they do now, I would have done that - a lot less invasive. - inside
In reply to: D 's message, "Mona, I know a few people that have had lap band or (what's the other one called?) and none of them have had an easy go of it. If nothing else it's a major life style change, it doesn't "fix" the reason we over eat. It scares me and like Sandy said, it's still major surgery. Hope you have your mess cleaned up. Where are you going to paint? Was your wallpaper easy to wipe down? I'd just want to cry then leave and not come back till someone had it cleaned!" on 2:04:13 pm, Mon, 01/07/08

Yes it is a major surgery and lifestyle change. You spend the first six months wondering why you did this. After the weight starts coming off and the incisions heal, it is worth it. You do have to learn to eat less and to not go long times between eating. My knees and back no longer hurt. I've started playing softball and taking Tai Chi again. I am alot healthier now than when I was heavy.

It is not a cure all. You can gain the weight back, your stomach can stretch out again, but with the adjustable lap-band they have now they can always readjust it.

Good luck in which ever decision you make.
