Subject: I am at my wits end!

I don't know what in the heck is going on around here, but all my cats keep beating each other up. Even the ones who never fought are doing it now. Johnny is peeing on the wall by Bens bed, Anita is peeing on the stove, Someone is peeing on the dining room table and the living room sofa. Julie is jumping everyone, Roger is biting Lilly, Davey is smacking Silvee and no-one is happy. Everyone's tail is up and doing the quivering ready to spray stance even though they have never done it before. I;ve always had some discord before, with 9 cats it's expected, but this is crazy. I've tried to think what it is, all the usual problems, and mnothing is explaining this. It's like a war zone, so sudden too. I just bought some feliway, put up more bird feeders so there is one outside every single window (they fight over viewing spots) set out more food dishes and litter. I wanted to get some rescue remedy but the type they had at Petsmart said not to give to cats who take tranquilizers and NiNi takes valium so I didn't get it. Does anyone have any ideas why the war so suddenly? My husband keeps saying he is going to build a barn and toss them out there. He won't of course, but he is frustrated too.

Well, Ben had the abcess but it is almost all gone. Missy is actually doing very well,. I think they are all healthy and ok. That is what makes it so strange. I can't think of anything. And it has never been so bad that they are ALL uptight at the same time. I have the feliways plugged in now, 3 places, so we'll see if that makes any difference. Glad Ben's abscess is almost gone!!! My foster dane, Dana, had a HUGE cyst on her back that abscessed. I was able to drain it on my own. I got over a quarter of a cup of bloody puss out of it. Was very gross!!! Luckily I'm not the squeamish type when it comes to stuff like that.... Danny was gagging, but it didn't bother me. I don't know what to say about this. If you think they are all well....then...the good bird watching seats might help. Do you have strays around? I know some people's cats beat up on each other when they see "strange" cats outdoors and also pee inside when they see a stranger. What a mess! Hope you can get it figured out and the Feliway helps! It could be that unaltered strays are showing up outside. We moved in late August/early September. At the new place was an intact male, whom we named Trouble...msg -- Guardian-of-4, 10:17:35 am, Mon, 11/26/07
Wow, Chris! How are you? Long time no see! What a nice surprise. Keep it up!! As for the strays, yes we do have them, but the cats generally just crack each other once or twice until I cover the door and window. THis is a new behaviour that I can't figure out.
