Subject: We're still in the 90's here. It's miserable! I have had a sinus-headache from hell for several days now. I had to work Thursday, Friday and Sunday... and I work 6:30 to 6:30 tomorrow and Thursday this week.

I had a good friend in Encinitas get evacuated, and my really good friend (Goose's breeder, Rachel) was evacuated from Lake Arrowhead. I am trying to keep her posted on the her area/home. Her house is stuck between the Grass Valley Fire and the Slide Fire. The GVFire is moving away from her, thank goodness, but now the Slide/Running Springs fire is heading right for her. She and her hubby, 6 Danes, a chi, 6 cats and their mini horse are safe in Riverside, thank GOD. I have to be at work at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow.... but hopefully things will be slow enough I can check on the status of the fires for her.
I believe Judi is far enough south to be ok... but I'm not positive, as I have not followed those fires as closely. Judi, hope you are ok!!!!" on 6:54:59 pm, Tue, 10/23/07

  • Yep, this is sad. I saw where lots of people with pets are camping out so they can have their animals with them....they are the ones that refused to leave their pets behind. Isn't it sad there are people that WOULD leave their pets behind? Makes me sick. They are expecting the wind to be milder today so hope they can make some headway.   • It's really sad...... so many people were working down the mountain and weren't allowed back up to rescue pets or belongings. Authorities are doing their best to get horses to safety, but not enough manpower to go door-to-door for dogs, cats, birds, etc. It makes my heart ache!
    The fire spread further West and is even closer to Rachel's house now. I have to be at work in a half hour, but hopefully can keep checking in from there. (NT)     -- V~, 6:04:38 am, Wed, 10/24/07
