This time of year, I live a little vicariously through Gerry's mom. While he was talking with her this morning, I went on the bridge webcam and the temp was 63 with gorgeous sunshine. And the leaves are starting to turn. This is the time when I get homesick for Maine but I just don't want to live there year round. I can't handle the winters. Too much snow........and snow IS a four letter word. I love the first, fresh snow of the season but once it gets dirty with cars, people and animals, I'm ready to be done with it. I'm glad we have a snowblower, though, because although I don't mind shoveling, I usually do a number on my back and spend at least a day in bed with the heating pad. -- Piggy's Pad

In reply to: Sandy 's message, "I wish you'd blow some of the cooler weather my way! Yesterday wasn't bad as we ended up at about 83 but that was the temp at the airport, which is out in the country. Here in town, it was warmer and enough to make you sweat if you were out walking around. But we woke up this morning to lots and lots of humidity and the temp is supposed to end up at about 90. I think this week is supposed to bring cooler temps and I can't wait. But come this winter, when you're buried in snow, I'll be enjoying some days in the 60's to 70 or so. Your reading sounds interesting, Kate. I never realized that you were interested in subjects like this. Other than the newspaper and the few magazines I still get, I don't do much reading, unless it has to do with rug hooking. We do have one book here at home that I'm waiting to get my hands on, when Gerry's done with it. It's titled "Army Wives" and it's the book that the TV show on Lifetime is based upon. An interesting look at the life of a military spouse..........which, of course, I'm intimately familar with!! But he got to read this one first and I'm not sure if he's done with it. Just this morning, we were going over the new TV lineup for this fall, which starts this week. There are so many shows that look promising and although I usually don't watch that much TV, I at least want to catch the opening show of the series. And even though I never thought I'd get interested in "Dancing with the Stars," that show has become a "must see" around here. We've even got some of the dances saved on the computer, courtesy of YouTube. I wasn't expecting to get interested in this show either but I'm so hooked, it's unreal. I was really rooting for Apollo and Julianne this past session and now, I can't wait to see how Marie Osmond, Jennie Garth, Jane Seymour and specifically, Cameron Mathison, are going to do. Honestly Sandy, I'm not at all sure if I am interested in this kind of stuff....I *think* I am, but I'm not sure if the books will keep my interest....I get bored easily when reading...but I've always found things/stories about ghosts and supernatural things interesting.....so I'm hoping these books will capture my interest....
