Subject: I GOT A JOB! and update on Dad....... msg.

As much as I hated to have to go back to work, with Danny being laid off, I had no choice. He's looking at about a 50% cut in pay everywhere he's applied for. (Mostly cuz he got SO much overtime and quarterly bonuses.)

Anyway, I'll be working with a friend who opened up her own boarding/doggie day-care business a few months ago. Business is picking up, and she needs help. She's not sure what she can afford to pay yet, or what my hours will be, as she still needs to work all that out. I start in a couple weeks, cuz she needs to get insurance started before she can have employees. I can bring Gilly Bean with me too! I worried about that, cuz of her needing medication 3 times a day. She said NO PROBLEM, just bring her to work.

Since she used to be one of my volunteers, she is aware I want to continue my work with the Humane Society too (I'm volunteer coordinator, which is a volunteer job in itself), so that's also not a problem either. She will work around what I need to do for them, and schedule my hours accordingly.

I'm excited! I'll still get to do what I love, and I'll get to bring the Bean with me! Hopefully I'll make enough per month to pick up the slack from Danny's cut in pay.

He has an interview on Tuesday at the Army Base for a civilian contractor.

In other news, Dad got to go home from the hospital. He's tolerating the chemo so far. He's very tired, but in good spirits. We don't know his prognosis, because it's so hard to tell with lymphoma. We just take one day at a time and pray!

Vicki, I'm so happy for you. I know you're not happy with the idea of going back to work (I wouldn't be either) but hopefully, this will end up being the perfect job, you'll love it and it will fit into your schedule so well that it will be more like play than work. And I'm sure Danny will appreciate the help with the finances. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for him tomorrow when he was the interview with the Army base contractor. It might just end up being a blessing in disguise. As for your father-in-law, I'm so happy for you that he's home. No cancer is a *good* cancer but if you have to get cancer, I guess lymphoma is one of the better kinds to get. You are all still in my prayers for good outcomes everywhere. Oh Vicki!! What wonderful news..and the job sounds absolutely wonderful....boy, if there was something like that available here..I'd jump at it!!!! Good Luck!!!
Good luck to Danny too tomorrow...maybe your getting this job is a good omen for Danny tomorrow..and also bring some good luck to your FIL...

Looks like a huge CONGRATULATIONS on all fronts! YIPEEE it's a good day! Hopefully, more will soon follow. And if you HAD to get a job, at least it is a fun one. Good for you! All we were told is it is a very aggressive type of cancer originating in the lymphatic system. They said the chemo would buy him some time, but there wasn't anything more they could do for him.... It's the non-hodgkins type, but there are a few cancers that fall under the non-hodgkins type. They are running tests to see if it's gone into his bone marrow. I was really hoping it was just colon cancer... that is one of the better cancers to get if you have to get cancer. (Well, provided it's caught in time.) (NT) -- V~, 10:24:09 am, Tue, 09/25/07
