Subject: Update on Todd (young man who was shot)

Hi there,

Sharon was doing quite well until Thurs night. Todd was moved out of ICU (yeah!) and to a regular room which is wonderful BUT his care diminished 75%. It is very stressful for both Todd & his mom.

Todd needed pain meds, buzzed the nurses station and he was told his nurse was at dinner and he would have to wait another 1/2 hr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's one hell of way to run a hospital! Friday they were going to try to cut back on his pain meds to wean him so he could go home to Sharon's for 2 months recovery...BUT it's not going well. Todd is in a great deal of pain, bless his heart. So now, they are not sure when he can leave. ;-( Sharon just wants him home...

Vicki, I'll continue to keep both Todd and Sharon in my prayers. But that's horrible, and unacceptable, to read about the kind of care he's getting in the hospital. He, and or Sharon, need to do the same kind of thing I've done in the past (when Punkie had Travis). If you can't get care, or medication, in a timely manner and the nurses don't respond to your requests, then call the hospital administrator from your room and lodge a complaint. Even a phone call to the director of nursing can go a long way. There's no reason for us to pay these huge prices for hospital care and then get anything less than stellar care. And the fact that "his" nurse was at dinner is not a good reason, or excuse, for him not to get his pain medication. I so hope Todd can continue to improve and will get out of that place. I found out he was shot with an Uzi!!!!!! The bullet ripped thru his abdomen and out his back... damaging several organs along its path. They still don't know what the long-term repercussions are going to be. (NT) -- V~, 8:35:17 pm, Sun, 07/15/07
