Re: Family Talk -- rujane, 08:14:48 02/18/03 Tue
IMHO, I think any talk show host has the right to discuss the settlements made to anyone in Atlantic City, since it impacts the taxpayers in that city. I have never heard Seth discuss Don Hurley in a way that made any personal references, he only mentioned his name in the context of discussions about these settlements, which I think is fair game. I do not think it would be fair to discuss either Hurleys wives, children, or families. I do not even think it is fair to discuss the medical aspect of the situation, unless it is whatever is in public record, as part of the settlement documents. Unfortunately, when you have a family member who has been involved in an issue that impacts the public, it is difficult to establish a fine line between getting personal and discussing a public issue.
It's interesting that several of the hosts have something in common - they all have children. Some have very young kids, but some have teens, young adults. In this weather, those kids may be listening to the radio, so maybe it would be a good idea to remember that it is never pleasant for a child to hear something unkind about one's parent.
