Lenihan is the only feis where we had to pay for marks. If other schools charge for them, it must be included in the original fees. I see on their syllabus that times are now listed for dancing. I noticed on the champs that there are several groups with the same time. I know there is only one stage for champs. Does this mean they will combine those comps. listed with the same times?

There is no conspiracy here. They base their schedule on entries. It's possible the age groups in question don't have 5 competitors to make it count. (NT) -- If there are they will seperate them., 21:05:48 04/08/13 Mon

Actually not exactly true. If there are less than 5 they will ask the people in that comp if they WANT to be combined with next age group. (NT) -- I've been there and was one asked at their November Feis. We Love Horgan!, 05:04:31 04/09/13 Tue

NAFC rules state: "The syllabus is to contain all grade categories. A Feis Committee may combine two consecutive age categories into the higher of the two categories within that grade when less than five (5) competitors are entered." (NT) -- Feis can combine if they choose, 09:04:06 04/09/13 Tue

There was a NE team in the 19+ competition today that had only 3 members who are actually 19 and over. The other 5 members are U19, U18, U17, U16 and U15. Is that allowed? I read on another message board that 75% of dancers have to be the correct age group, but I don't know whether that's true.

things can dissolve on here quickly and schools/TCs/dancers are identified..I am aware of what school this is. The fact is that there were dancers who were left off this team purposely in favor of younger dancers and it was not fair.. (NT) -- ..., 17:59:10 04/01/13 Mon

A younger dancer is allowed to dance int he older age groups if they don't dance in their own age. e.g. an U16 dancing in an U19 team doesn't count as 'dancing up' if they didn't dance in U16. (NT) -- so many rules, 10:55:33 04/01/13 Mon

Sorry but how is that obvious? When a prominent Boston school sent 4 prelims to NANS who did not have their prelim firsts and had not qualified for NANS at the NEO, they did not get permission. They simply broke the rules and suffered no consequences whatsoever. Rules are just a suggestion in NE, not mandatory, because they are never enforced. (NT) -- sad but true, 11:32:07 04/01/13 Mon

Dd's TC follows the rules too but NE has made itself notorious in recent years for breaking the rules and then rewarding the cheaters. I agree. Though checking the school's website is usually good advice, I've been to more than one Irish Dance School Website that hasn't been updated in ages. Most up to date info often found here. (NT) -- Sometimes tricky to find out info, 06:35:32 04/07/13 Sun
You could check the NAFC website to see the location they list -- the link it takes you to should help clarify, 13:38:55 04/07/13 Sun

The problem in this case is that the NAFC website listed the original location of this feis - Hartford, CT. FeisMgr most likely got their information from the NAFC website. Horgan had a change of venue, which is listed on their website, but was not corrected or changed on the NAFC website. (NT) -- hth, 16:19:22 04/07/13 Sun

unfortunately a school can report a change of venue to the NAFC but the school can not change what is posted on the NAFC website - only the NAFC can make that change. Best to check the feis syllabus as a verification for correct venue info (NT) -- jmho, 19:23:43 04/07/13 Sun

I have to say that you are correct. The location for Lenihan changed. The NAFC still has it at the old location (I noticed when I was trying to find the spelling of the school it was in and checked NAFC only to find it was still listed at the wrong place) (NT) -- Sometimes it is hard to find all the info! :), 04:37:28 04/08/13 Mon
