Will some kind sould please explain to me the percentage rules of dancers recalled? Also wondering the formula for figuring number of world medal holders vs. recallers. Thanks! :)

Recall one third up to a total of 50 unless competition has under 60 dancers then recall one half for solos...Medals based on another formula - breakdowns for up to 30 dancers registered (if more than 30 then 8 medalists) plus one for each 10 dancers or fraction of 10 over 30 registered. By now some of you have already received your numbers via email. If you have not received your number, all numbers are now available on feismgr.com. Log back in to the account you created and you will see your competitor number on the main page. Click on the number to print it. If you don't see a number on your main page, you have a balance due and can pick up your number on the day of the feis at the entry desk.

Saw these lightweight bags at the Emerald Key table for $65 at worlds last week, but was just dollared out. Does anyone know who else might sell one like them? Doesn't appear to carry them on their website. They are just so much lighter than the heavy canvas ones. And the whimsical prints were so cute! thx

I think some of it depends on the level of your several dancers, as well as the location of their colleges. Before making any decisions about dance schools I urge you to contact the TCs and make sure they take college age transfers. Some do not. Also I would check FeisWeb results for 2012-2013 feiseanna and see what schools have college age dancers who are placing in prelim or open, depending on what level your dancers are. There are none in Boston proper - Boston has many areas, Roslindale, Dorchester, Brighton and Alston etc If you could give a specific area it might help. At worlds this week OSC, Harney and Smith Houlihan had a bunch of older boys that recalled. Why transferring are you in a school you don't like or are you moving. If it if the former what is it you don't like and that might make it easier to answer your question, or else everyone is just going promote or bash schools. The schedule for the older kids is important, they need a tcrg/adcrg at class, the oportunity for privates, a good atomosphere, good role models, being able to get to classes easily ie. less travel especially on week nights, motivating teachers.... (NT) -- possible moving, 11:55:17 04/01/13 Mon

OSC has 8 TCs/Ads, and class is always taught by one or multiple of them. Main classes are in watertown(thurs) and brighton (sat) , right off of bus lines. Private lessons are offered. Why doesn't the irish dance world have an actual judging system where judges have set amounts of deductions and must mark why they deduct.... Like we work so hard and never know if the judge liked our dancing or our teacher

I totally disagree. We actually believe the judging to be quite fair. No judge can sit there all day and possible compute all the computations it takes to show favoratism or screw your DD. the successful event, and the schools and NE region for their efforts in this matter. To the city of Boston...beautiful proud city with wonderful history, what is up with the panhandling? There were as many as 10 people begging for change on each block of Boylston Street. The train station was the same. I am from Philadelphia and understand the issues and see my fair share of panhandling on a daily basis, but it seemed extreme and unaddressed in Boston. I would think that a police foot patrol on that main street might do something to deter

Unless he was holding an iPhone 5, that really wouldn't bother me. If you're homeless and applying or jobs you need to be reachable. We are so fortunate that we have never been in that position. When dd was younger for safety reasons I gave her a Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go phone. The phone itself was around $20 and the $20 minute cards I bought for it usually lasted her over a month. I tried to register for the Quincy feis scheduled for 4-28 but the feis web says that registration is closed "Mailed Payments will Only" be accepted and the Syllabus says that entries must be made on feis web. I'm not sure if entries are no longer accepted because the original date came and went or if the entries are closed for the new date. Does anyone know?

To address a few questions about our feis:
Musicians are Billy Furlong, Niall Mulligan and Brian Boyce. We will have a shoe vendor, wig vendor and accessories vendor.
Competitor numbers are being emailed this time. They will probably start to go out today. The schedule will be posted on lenihanirishdance.com and feismgr.com later today or tomorrow morning. I will also post here to let you know when that has been posted. We will not be posting a competitor list. You can check the status of your own entry by logging back in to feismgr.com if you'd like to double check that your payment was received. If by any chance it was not received, you will receive/have already received a phone call, an email, or maybe both!

My family will be traveling to Maine this summer, and my dd would like to attend the Maine State feis. We were able to find the schedule from last year, and it looks like the prelim comps run differently than what we're used to (in our region both hard and soft rounds are run concurrently, on last year's schedule they were separate). Are awards for each round or overall? Also, is this a big feis? What are the numbers usually like for prelim u11-u13?

They generally do run hard shoe immediately followed by soft shoe - but if the competition is small they may run it concurrently with another age or ages - running all the smaller competitions hard shoe rounds to be followed by all soft shoe rounds, but the each prelim comp is still scored as one competition with two rounds (NT) -- 2012 attendee, 15:26:18 04/01/13 Mon

To the city of Boston...beautiful proud city with wonderful history, what is up with the panhandling? There were as many as 10 people begging for change on each block of Boylston Street. The train station was the same. I am from Philadelphia and understand the issues and see my fair share of panhandling on a daily basis, but it seemed extreme and unaddressed in Boston. Subject: Quincy Feis Entries closed?

I'm not sure if entries are no longer accepted because the original date came and went or if the entries are closed for the new date. Does anyone know? Thanks so much! Subject: Food for thought; I was very disappointed when my dd showed me twitter and tumblr posts from a prominent NE dancer professing her dissatisfaction over the judges at the Worlds. Remember, your words affect kids you've never met when you are in a position like that. Sour grapes very unbecoming and lacked class.

We will have a shoe vendor, wig vendor and accessories vendor. Competitor numbers are being emailed this time. They will probably start to go out today. The schedule will be posted on lenihanirishdance.com and feismgr.com later today or tomorrow morning. I will also post here to let you know when that has been posted. We will not be posting a competitor list. You can check the status of your own entry by logging back in to feismgr.com if you'd like to double check that your payment was received. We were able to find the schedule from last year, and it looks like the prelim comps run differently than what we're used to (in our region both hard and soft rounds are run concurrently, on last year's schedule they were separate).
