Harney's entry date was yesterday, unless they are accepting late entrys - don't know! Subject: School Teachers Please Answer: When I send notes into my children's teachers, I always refer to them as "Mrs./ Miss. etc." I sign my name as "Mrs. Smith." Lately the teachers are referring to me by MY first name and then signing THEIR first name to our correspondance. You can address someone as Mrs. Miss., which I do when sending a note to school... but not yourself...I always use my first name when signing (NT) -- maa, 14:05:25 10/05/09 Mon I think things are (for good or bad) more informal now, and we use first names more often. I have always called my childrens' teachers Ms/ Mrs/Mr XXXX. Not too long ago though, I had a teacher respond to my e-mail with "Hey there, ..." I was appalled. I had only spoken to this teacher once durng a parent/teacher conf and had no previous interaction with her. Needless to say, I was none too impressed with her or her teaching! Mr/Mrs. I think calling a teacher Mr/Mrs reinforces that respect that should be given to teachers. I couldn't even begin to call a prinicpal by their first name!! Article also clearly states that it depends on the area. There are some schools that continue to grow. This economy has had an impact on everything, so why would irish dance be exempt.
