Have you been to OIreachtas before? Several makeup artists are usually there - not all associated with "official vendors". I found Kaitlin in 2019 and she's amazing. Don’t know about these people and their affiliation but I have been to plenty of majors where people do hair and makeup privately. I get what you are saying but you can’t control people paying for these services privately especially when it’s not offered on the floor. I highly recommend Kaitlin & Alli without hesitation - and her point about not being able to enter the venue at early hours is spot on. Not sure why someone chose to attack her. There are ALWAYS non-official makeup/hair people available to hire at most Feis. There are several going to NERO that I know of and many are booked already. Parents have every right to hire someone privately to do hair/makeup at comps. Please find something else to complain -- dmom, 08:58:59 09/17/21 Fri

There are 9 feis open for registration on feis web and only two are showing registration lists. I know this has been discussed a few times, but why are lists hidden? They are showing at least 50% or more of the participants when results are posted, so protecting anonymity for travel restrictions no longer makes sense.

72 hours before is fairly meaningless. My friend went to a wedding in RI last weekend where not only were all the guests required to submit their vax cards ahead of time but they were also given a rapid covid test before they could enter the wedding venue. Yes - but NH has lower restrictions. When you look at the other sports being played - outside and inside MA - it makes no sense that we aren't feising. Just sad. There was even a large ice skating competition in MA the last few weeks. Why is dance so different & no one is doing anything to salvage it? I don't see that happening. In a normal year our school hosts more than one feis. We don't make much money on them, but as long as costs are covered we're happy to do this for the ID community. However if we barely broke even in normal years, what do you imagine would happen in a year like this when we can't have the normal number of entrants, are likely to struggle for volunteers, have the challenge of bringing in judges, etc.? I don't see how to make that financially viable for any school. We put on more than 1 feis per year. While we do run in the black we don't make much. That was pre-covid with normal registration numbers. I don't see how it could be done without losing money with the low numbers you'd have during covid. You speak of multiple NE feiseanna having taken place during the pandemic. Where were these? I know only of the Murray School Feis, to which a very small number of outside friends were invited. A lot of this stems from the dissolution of the NAFC. There were certain national level rules, and then some rules that vary by region. The elimination of the NAFC has left committees and regions picking through what rules do/don't apply anymore. (NT) -- very confusing time, 23:56:18 08/09/21 Mon

So so much uncertainty with the pandemic between now and the end of November. Even if we were told something today, I would take it with a grain of salt. I actually want them to tell us as close to the event as possible. Three months out is a lifetime with this virus. I won't believe it is happening until Nov. 1st or so, no matter what they say now. FBI Arrests White Plains Man on Child Pornography Charges | Federal Bureau of Investigation

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY—The FBI Westchester County Safe Streets Task Force arrested a man on charges of downloading and distributing child pornography from a network used on the Dark Web. Agents arrested Michael J. Facelle on Tuesday, July 20, at his home in White Plains, New York.

Based on the criminal complaint filed in the Southern District of New York, investigators allege Facelle used the peer-to-peer computer software called BitTorrent to download videos and photos of child pornography.

If anyone has information about this investigation, they are asked to call the FBI New York at 212-384-1000, or submit a tip online at www.tips.fbi.gov

It would be nice if you offered u20 and 20+ in open champs. We no longer feis in New England because many syllabus are 17+ as oldest group which in most cases also makes it the largest open group. We regularly travel to other regions because they offer a u20 and 20+. If you are afraid there won't be enough competitors, you can always combine when setting up schedule, but why not give it a chance?

My dd is also an OC senior lady, so I feel your pain, but can't blame the feis committees. Have you seen the unholy hell people raise when a feis doesn't draw enough competitors in the oldest groups and has to combine comps? People feel entitled to whatever was proposed on the syllabus. I think it's easier for a feis committee to split a comp later on if they get a good number of competitors registered than it is to combine groups. (NT) -- just my own opinion, 15:16:10 07/24/21 Sat

Subject: I am so grateful to have the opportunity for my kids to feis again. I am hoping that the latest round of feis will release the numbers in competitions. It is not always worth the cost of the hotel and travel if the competition does not count. I am hoping as time goes by we will get more information and not less. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Loved the Phoenix prep feis hosted by Murray and O'Shea on Saturday. Ran great, low-key, excellent prep for Nationals - well done to all!
Also love the environmentally friendly no paper marks. Kudos.
However, what I don't love is the ability to see EVERYTHING about EVERYONE in the comp. Each judge's scores for all dancers for all rounds are out there for everyone to see. My dancer placed so hers would be on display with feisweb, too, but if she hadn't placed I'm not sure she'd want everyone to see all those marks.
We've all been at the bottom or had a bad day or danced on a hurt foot/ankle/knee, whatever -- I don't think the entire competition needs to see anything but their own scores.
Thoughts?

We've danced many Feis through the iFeis system & I think it's superb. Not only is it fast, but it's great to see the overall standings. This is the norm in every other sport I can think of. If you are currently watching Olympic trials you see who is last, no difference. I also think it's really helpful to see how other judges place overall. It can work as a plus for kids who place low overall - as they might have gotten a high score from a judge in a certain round. -- Visibility is good., 09:23:00 06/28/21 Mon

I think its VERY fair to allow dancers from the host school to pre-register. Many of those parents are going to volunteer at the feis so why would they bother helping if their kids aren't even registered for the feis?? If you have enough students that opening early to them is going to practically fill the feis, then you should be holding a class feis not a competition. A lot of this stems from the dissolution of the NAFC. There were certain national level rules, and then some rules that vary by region. The elimination of the NAFC has left committees and regions picking through what rules do/don't apply anymore. We regularly travel to other regions because they offer a u20 and 20+. My dd is also an OC senior lady, so I feel your pain, but can't blame the feis committees. Have you seen the unholy hell people raise when a feis doesn't draw enough competitors in the oldest groups and has to combine comps? People feel entitled to whatever was proposed on the syllabus. I think it's easier for a feis committee to split a comp later on if they get a good number of competitors registered than it is to combine groups.
