Subject: SRO Qualifier?

How is the SRO a National and World Qualifier? I thought if not all O's were able to be held, none of them would be considered qualifiers? The Midwest was not. How is that fair to kids in regions whose O's were cancelled?

To our feis registrants: We are aware of the new Massachusetts travel restrictions and continue to monitor the changing Covid climate. At this point as the NH guidelines remain unchanged, we are continuing to plan our Winter Feis. We understand there may be some registered families that are unable to abide by their state's travel restriction. If that is the case please email us at murrayirishcr@yahoo.com by Friday, November 27 to delete your registration and request a refund. As things evolve, we will continue to review our plans and stay in touch via this FB page. At this time we will not be accepting new dancer registrations.

Subject: OT. This is totally off topic but I'm hoping someone can remember the name of a market I used to go to years ago near the eastside Shaws in Brockton. It was a fruit and vegetable market near MCC. I think it began with an L. Anyone remember this place? I moved from that area and thought about it.

Is anyone still planning on attending MCGough Feis now that NJ has put MA on their list of restricted states? We have decided not to go and I am waiting to hear back from feis committee regarding a refund but interested if anyone else has contacted them in the meantime!

CLRG has announced the cancellation of the All Ireland’s for 2021 and has also canceled the World competition, with hopes of running it In July. That decision will be made by March 1st.
Sad news but certainly the responsible decision.

The lack of transparency from our Board is astounding. In what other sport or activity is the customer not centric to decisions and communication? If you have a dancer who is competitive, the average spend on tuition/class, private lessons, feis/travel, costume, shoes, etc is on average $5,000 - $10,000 per year. This a huge investment. I've often been told we can't "ruffle feathers." When you have a 5 person board seemingly making unilateral decisions that effect my child and my time/money, then I get frustrated and I shouldn't have to ruffle feathers to get answers.

Why aren't parents allowed to read Board meeting minutes? Why aren't parents allowed to attend zoom calls for an Open Session of a Board Meeting? Who was on the regional COVID Committee? Why couldn't an insurance policy be obtained? Who is the Doctor of Psychology they sought advice and what was communicated from that meeting? Without any information, I am left to make assumptions.

In the end, other Regions may or may not be able to hold an Oireachtas. But they are trying to make it work. Kudos to them. Our Board seemingly looked to find reasons to NOT hold the event, as opposed to asking how can we hold an event?

I have two other children in other sports/activities. The communication has been very transparent and their Boards have sought input and advice outside of their own team. Competitions look different but are happening (inside and outdoors). I feel badly for my dancer that she simply chose to fall in love with a sport whose operation is going the way of Blockbuster.

TCs are running a business. The Board is elected to represent the best interests of TCs and the ID community. This Board either: failed to communicate, failed to exhaust all options for this event or failed to serve the very group they were elected to represent. Maybe I'm wrong. But because everything is one big secret, I am going to guess I'm not.

Amazed at the resilience of these dancers. After some disappointing news last week- our DD is back at it- excited about new steps coming down the pike and smaller, achievable goals.

I was not surprised by, and supported the region's choice to cancel early- as the rest of them will likely follow, just later in the game- but I am surprised by how well the kids are managing this.

Children are amazing. We could learn something from them, I think.

New England: rescheduled for 1st weekend in February 2021
Mid-Atlantic: December is canceled, trying to reschedule for January 2020
Southern Region: canceled for Dec in NC, looking at rescheduling in Atlanta or Orlando for January
Western Region US: canceled, trying to reschedule for January
Western Region Canada: rescheduled for January
Eastern Region Canada: no idea
Mid-America - still on, as far as I can tell.

Does anybody know anything further about whether Eastern Canada and Mid-America regions are really still going forward with their Oireachtasi in 2020?

I do not think it is lack of effort on the part of the organizers of NEO. The Hartford location is closed until the end of January. Massachusetts not an option and I believe they have looked in NH without success. I think all organizers want to have O, finding a suitable location is a challenge.

MAR - canceled, possibly to be rescheduled for January
Western Region - rescheduled for January
Western Canada - rescheduled for January

What are the statuses of Mid-America, Southern Region, New England and Eastern Canada?

I don't think I'd mind if our O did the same...it would allow more time in-studio for all the kids that took some time off during the height of the pandemic.
