had a look on google earth yesterday to try and find the area you were asking about. couldn't believe my eyes. the old A1 is practically non existant. the hilltop at blyth (retford)is still there and the one at quorn. but most of the A1 is now motorway and it looks very boring. will have another look later. did you try and stay on the A1 or did you use the motorway?. cheers. alf
