Date Posted: Sunday, April 06, 06:34:12pm Did anybody have such a bad night as me when I was sailing from Port Talbot to Swansea? We spent the whole night at sea flying up and down and when we hit the dock at Swansea it knocked a hole in the side of the ship just above the waterline. I think it was on the Kenton or the Coquetside and they put us in a huge dock in Swansea and took the plate off. It rained for three days and the ship rolled over and sank in the dry dock. I stood on the dock in the rain for about three hours in my underwear while the firebrigade tried to pump the water out. It was probably about 1950 or maybe 1951. It was a nearly all Welsh crewe I remember and they were home for the weekend but being the cook and a Geordie I was left on board.
