Slowly, steadily they depleted the number of enemies. Out of the fifteen dragons, Gemnal and Siere had downed one, and cornered a second, heedful of the burning blood. A pair of Ghazard suddenly rushed them, and D'rian cursed loudly, biting back a scream of pain. A blade had cut him sharply across the forearm, and with a gasp, his sword clattered to the ground. The Ghazard kicked it away, but Deleria was instantly there, driving hers through the red-haired, red-eyed fighter's stomach, coming from behind. The second Ghazard rushed her with a roar, bearing a spear. She dodged it, smacking the spearman in the back of the head with the flat of her blade. He fell, senseless, and D'rian snapped up the spear. Using the sturdy handle as a quarterstaff, he came down on the Ghazard with a crushing blow to the trachea.
