Kurai drew his hand crossbow, loading one of his bolts into it; no two were the same, so they couldn't be traced back to him. Keeping ears and eyes open for guards, he slipped out of the door. At Vysaere's nudge, he nodded. That was probably it. He made his way to the foot of it, crouching in the shadows.
OOC: Ok... er... we have the whole staircase/stabby guard thing... do you want to keep the same actual assassination, and get caught in the act of stabbing him? Or should we stab him successfully, then get the trap spell on our way out? Or in the room? Or what?
