Here is one of the coolest things ever: A Bald Eagle Cam!

http://www.wvec.com/marketplace/microsite-content/eagle-cam.html

It's a camera trained on a Bald Eagle nest in the wild, within the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Virginia. BEAUTIFUL!!

I've been checking in on it for the last two days and have had the rare privilege of watching the mama eagle feed her babies twice.

I hope you'll bookmark the page so you can check in regularly and watch those little Eaglets grow up.

ENJOY!!

[> And for anyone who questions whether this is really "in the wild", it is illegal in the US to hold a healthy Bald Eagle in captivity. The only ones you'll see in zoos, etc, are injured Eagles that cannot survive in the wild, AND the zoo or animal park has special Federal permission to house the Eagle. -- The Chief, 08:24:39 03/19/11 Sat [1]

[> This is an annual event, with the Eagle 'parents' delivering at least three eggs. Our newscasters keep us updated, as well as allowing access via the "Eagle Cam". Think it was two years ago that one of the Eaglets arrived with a tumor on its little beak. Of course, it was removed from the nest when it was a few weeks old, the tumor was successfully removed, and the Eagle was released. (Don't recall the details of where the baby was treated.) BTW, this nest is less than a mile from the extremely busy Norfolk Intl. Airport. -- carramor, 21:32:32 03/24/11 Thu [1]

[> [> FYI The Norfolk Botantical Gardens site is a Federal protected area, aka, 'in the wild'. -- carramor, 21:35:41 03/24/11 Thu [1]
