Subject: We just watched a movie called Pompeii, with information from Pliny the yonger. What a terrifying force. I remember when Mt St. Helen's erupted. We could hear the explosion right up here in BC. If the area had a city at its base, it would have been even mrore disasterous. I am fascinated by geology, though I only have a couple of courses (my sci. requirement.) My DH majored in geology, so I've learnt a lot from him. I'm hardly an expert though.
In reply to: Katiegirl 's message, "Cece, after the Canterbury quakes a couple of years ago, I think it has just made people more aware. My daughter and I would love to visit Pompeii as well (it's on the bucket list). As a matter of fact we have just watched a documentary about another sight on the other side of Mt Vesuvius from an earlier eruption. It was fascinating." on 17:44:47 08/03/13 Sat
