Subject: As a retired teacher of 34+ years, I know there is value in all the new technology, BUT I am very concerned about the use of many of these at the elementary level. The basics are the basics and in some cases, they are throwing them aside for the introduction of these handheld devices. I remember when our district spent oodles of money on reading machines only to have them stored a few years later in a dust collecting stoage room. Technology changes every single day and schools are becoming more and more limited on funds.
