It was torture to have them away from me, but we survived it. We decorated to the nines but gave them room to fill in the more flashy spaces. Cynthia now has bright blue LED lights around her room (which I allowed because they don't get hot at all), and a disco ball, and Anna chose a ballet wall picture and a some frilly accessories. It might help them transition if they have a small role in how the rooms are finished. I like the Craigs list and flea market ideas too.
