FYI- you are correct perhaps, but Would love to know how many years of experience and training costs might be thrown away due to this error in judgement unrelated to your safety or mine. It might have been better for his dept. to use common sense and reprimand his actions. This is what one would expect an employer to do-public or private -for this one time event with no impact to anyone. I question leadership that does not seem to stand by their own employees for something like this. I can agree that maybe this officer forgot his primary duty by campaigning-this also makes me question the management. I hope those deciding his fate, should focus on his value as an officer and focus on public safety, not politics. If he has a good file otherwise, to fire him will just make the whole thing all the more unfortunate. I would also consider they might want to improve their management oversight.
